Ford continues to reinvent themselves with each year to create the most popular rock-solid pickups in the world. When you hear Ford, you know you're about to discuss one of the best automotive brands on the market. This brings us to 2017's bombshell of a pickup, the Ford Super Duty.
The 2017 Ford Super Duty's exterior is essentially the same style as previous models, but the inside is different. LED light upgrades to the driving lights and the quad-beam headlamps are now present and the Super Duty joined the 2017 Ford F-150 in shedding some weight. This is because Ford decided to add the all-steel frame which is 24 times more rigid than the 2017 model's predecessor. The Super Duty's cab body is made with military grade aluminum, meaning dents and dings are less likely to become apparent if they happen at all.
Ford let go of the trim levels regular cab, SuperCab, and CrewCab to make room for the XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum options, which offer more interior features than the other trims. If you don't care about the fancy interior, the XL and XLT trim levels will be perfect for you. The trailer-brake controller was moved closer to the driver, integrated auxiliary switches were added into the overhead console, and Ford flattened the floor on the second row for easier cargo handling.
The next feature is the obvious reason Ford created this truck, the towing. There are seven cameras attached for improved ability to see your surroundings when moving around heavy cargo on the backend. Ford has included adaptive steering to reduce wheel-input for low-speed operation. When the truck runs at higher input speeds they are reducing sensitivity to steering. A first with the Super Duty is the added adaptive cruise control and automatic braking functions, in-cab tire-pressure monitoring, and lane departure warning. And don't forget the SYNC 3 and 8.0-inch infotainment system.
The engines remained the same, a 6.7-Liter Power Stroke V-8 turbo-diesel, and the 6.2-liter gas engine which is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. With the new Super Duty, Ford promises you will be able to haul more cargo than ever.
