Allow us to introduce you to the all-new Ford Escape, loaded with technologies and features to help make your life easier. This smarter utility vehicle has a kinetic design which conveys motion even when parked through its modern, athletic look, subtle, Z-shaped bodyline, and rising belt line. It has an available panoramic Vista Roof®, a sporty spoiler, Easy Fuel® capless fuel filler, and sculpted wheel arches showcasing an array of wheels up to 19 inches, which are standard on titanium trim level. Bright dual exhaust tips are also available. Up front, Escape showcases its large, trapezoidal lower grille accented by elongated available HID headlamps with LED accents and elongated tail lamps.
Entering and starting your Escape is a breeze thanks to available Intelligent Access with push-button start. The newly available class-exclusive foot-activated lift gate is easy to use. With the available Intelligent Access key in your possession, just kick your foot under the bumper, and the power lift gate will automatically open for easy access to the cargo area.
Safety is a top priority in the Escape design, with a standard personal safety system, a total of 7 airbags (including the driver's knee airbag), the Safety Canopy System® with 2, row-side curtain airbags, and the SOS Post-Crash Alert System™ which unlocks the vehicle's doors and activates the horn and emergency flashers in the event the airbags are deployed. The Escape also has torque vectoring control, which transfers torque to the wheels that have the most grip when cornering. It virtually eliminates understeer, forcing the front end to hug the inside of each curve. AndvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control™ automatically applies the brakes, adjusts the engine torque whenever it detects wheel slip, and helps avoid skidding and fishtailing by controlling understeer and oversteer. It also helps maintain control in road conditions such as ice, gravel, and rain.
Now let's take a look under the hood. The base engine is a 2.5 Duratec iVCT inline 4-cylinder engine, which is available with the front-wheel drive only. The all-new Escape also offers 2 EcoBoost® engines with twin independent variable camshaft timing (TiVCT), which maximizes performance, while 2 different technologies - turbo-charging and direct injection - combine to deliver enhanced performance and efficiency. First, there's a 1.6L EcoBoost® engine, available in front-wheel drive or optional Intelligent 4-Wheel Drive. Next, we have the 2L EcoBoost® engine, which is also available in front-wheel drive or optional Intelligent 4-Wheel Drive.
The available Intelligent 4-Wheel Drive system is monitoring traction and handling conditions every 16 miliseconds, and automatically adjusting torque distribution where needed. All three engines are matched with a 6-speed SelectShift® automatic transmission, which is standard on all Escape models. Standard SelectShift® utilizes a thumb switch on the switch lever for up-and-down shifting, so you can enjoy the fun-to-drive performance and feel of a manual transmission. When properly equipped, the all-new Escape can tow up to 3,500 pounds.
Escape features a completely redesigned interior that is spacious and sophisticated. The designers have created an environment that is clean and contemporary, where all of the main surfaces are soft-touch materials with added padding on the center console and the door arm rests. This improved fit and finish emphasizes the quality and craftsmanship that you would expect. In keeping with the Ford commitment to a more environmentally responsible future, more than 10 pounds of scrap cotton from jeans, sweaters, t-shirts, and other items - materials that otherwise would be sent to a landfill - are used in sound absorption lining throughout the Escape. The 60/40 split second-row seats fold flat for easy cargo carrying with 67.8 cubic feet storage space behind the first row of seats, and 34.3 cubic feet behind the second row.
The all-new Escape offers available SYNC® with MyFord Touch®, giving you hands-free entertainment, communications, and more. Available SYNC® lets you listen to content on your MP3 player or flashdrive as well as make phone calls and hear your text messages - all while leaving your phone in your pocket or purse. Available SYNC® with MyFord Touch® even recognizes over 10,000 voice commands. What's more, it features the Media Hub, which includes 2 USB ports, an SD card reader, and a video jack input. MyFord Touch® uses touch controls and voice commands. It's an intuitive, accessible way to control your vehicle's systems as you drive. The system combines a pair of 5-way switchpads on the steering wheel with 2 LCD screens - a 4.2-inch screen in the instrument cluster, and an 8-inch touchscreen display in the inner stack.
Then we have the available navigation system with Sirius XM Traffic and Sirius XM Travel Link®. This duo combines GPS technology with 3D mapping, and provides voice guided turn-by-turn directions, weather, traffic delays, alternate routes, local gas prices, movie listings, sports scores, and more. Another nice addition is the available HD radio technology with iTunes tagging, included with the available audio system from Sony.
